Northern France, 1918
War artist Alton Fay is attached to an RAF reconnaissance squadron, tasked with recording everyday life on the aerodrome. When he’s offered an opportunity to fly on active missions, he seizes it, determined to produce significant art that speaks the truth about war.
As a bitter offensive unfolds on the front line, Alton finds himself drawn into the surprising lives and complex tragedies of the men he is flying alongside.
